RE #2, I was always taught that a plural could be possessive but the Apostrophe comes after the s as in The girls' dresses.
    You're absolutely right, Berton.
For the most part, the grammar peeves are correct, but most can be carried further.

For instance: Loose and Lose are two different words, but it's not taken far enough. You might lose your ring if it's too loose on your finger. Or, you could lose your girl/boyfriend if your morals are too loose.

Loose is the opposite of tight. Lose is the opposite of save.

And there are more, but we'll leave those for others to play with. :)

In this case, the apostrophe is forming the possessive, not the plural. Rule #2 stands.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh! Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh! You're trying to confuse me, TC!

You made me think I saw something that wasn't there, or that I didn't see something that was there!

Girls is plural and girls' is plural possessive. I may not have said that right, because I've long since forgotten the actual rules but it is correct.

....most of the time. There are exceptions to every rule. ...Are there exceptions to that rule?
