    Welcome to The TenForums Saturday Live Chat!


    OK fellow geeks, Ten Forums & Windows 10 enthusiasts:

    With a permission from the the forum admin & owner @z3r010 let's organize the First Traditional* TenForums Saturday Live Chat! (* = pun intended ) this coming Saturday 16th of May 2015.

    The TenForums.com is truly a global community with members from allover the world. This makes it of course a bit difficult to find a time which would suit as many members as possible. It can't be a working day, Sunday is also not too good for some it would be too late in the evening on the work day's eve. Basically, Saturday is the safest bet. Even it still leaves the issue about the time, to find a time of the day when as many members as possible could at least shortly pop in to meet fellow members and chat.

    Let's try it this way:

    The meeting will be online at least four hours on this Saturday 16th of May, from 15:00 (3 PM) UTC to 19:00 (7 PM) UTC or longer if there still are members chatting online.

    This time frame allows most of us to pop in; it's late afternoon and early evening in Europe, morning, noon or early afternoon in the Americas, early / late evening in the Middle-East and India - Pakistan region, and late evening in the Australia.

    Come to meet your fellow members! You can pop in and out as many times as you want to, you don't need to stay online the full four hours.

    I will moderate the meeting staying online all the time, kicking out those who do not follow these simple rules:

    • The official Ten Forums Rules apply
    • The subject of the chat is Microsoft, Windows, Windows apps & games and features and our forums in general, Windows 10 and everything about and around it in particular
    • You may criticize or give kudos the Windows, MS, an app or feature but you are not allowed to speak negatively about fellow members. This includes criticizing fellow member's written or spoken English, not all members speak native English. The idea of the chat is to have fun together!
    • Off topic is not only allowed but strongly recommended!
    • No long discussions about your Windows or hardware issues, for that please use the forums. Of course you can ask simple questions from the fellow participants and others may answer but let's try not to use the whole online time in trying to resolve your BSOD issues
    • Anyone willing to share his / her desktop is allowed to do so, subject to time allowing it (if you are the only one willing to show your Windows 10 in action we can watch it a quarter of an hour, if everyone wants to do it we might limit your presentation to a few minutes)
    • You can participate with text chat, audio and webcam video, as you wish
    • Legal notice: The meeting will be recorded. The recording includes everything you will say, type in chat, show from your webcam and any live presentation you will do from your desktop.


    The link to the meeting will be posted in this thread one hour before the meeting starts, meeting going online then for you to test the connection if you so wish. See this tutorial for instructions in joining the meeting as guest using the Lync App from Windows Store: Lync App - Join an Online Meeting as Guest - Windows 10 Forums. Please use your Ten Forums username as your screen name! Notice that I will automatically kick out everyone who joins without a name or is using Guest or something similar as the screen name.

    If you want to join using Windows 7 or do not want to install the Store Lync App in your Windows 8 or later, see this post for instructions.

    You can of course join using the Lync or Skype for Business desktop apps if you have an organisational Lync Account. Please remember that in that case your personal information will be available for all participants. I recommend to at least disable your contact card showing the phone numbers. As far as I know there's no way to disable showing your account name and email address when joining with your Lync account:

    If you want to present your desktop please let me know before the meeting starts by posting here in this thread. I will setup a separate Lync Account for this meeting with presenter rights, and when it's your time to present I will PM a Lync username and password to you here at the Ten Forums. When you have received the PM, tell me in the chat that you would like to start your presentation. At this point you need to sign out from the meeting, then sign back in using the credentials I sent to you.

    When your presentation is over I will lock you out of the meeting (you can of course join again as guest) and change the credentials for the next presenter, the credentials you got will stop working.

    Geeks, if you want to share your desktop background image or show a video about your PC or your "PC corner", a funny Windows video clip or anything else but you do not want to present it live from your computer, please upload all content you would like to use in Saturday's chat to OneDrive and PM me the link; I will then download the material and present it from my computer when you are online, letting you to explain what we see.

    Be sure to give me some time, all uploads have to be done latest on early Saturday morning 09:00 (9 AM) my time (CEST, Central European Summer Time which is UTC +2).
