Saw a NASA prog on tv yesterday. One of the items was Gordon Coopers flight. I was amazed to see that he had to manually re-enter due to a lot of electrics going off in his capsule. To ensure correct entry attitude he had to realign the capsule with a constellation. He also has to do without cooling in the capsule and temperatures inside rose to 100(F I presume). He obviously landed safely 'on the dot'. Now that's called flying by the seat of your pants!!
