    Spot The Station

Watch the International Space Station pass overhead from several thousand worldwide locations. It is the third brightest object in the sky and easy to spot if you know when to look up.

Visible to the naked eye, it looks like a fast-moving plane only much higher and traveling thousands of miles an hour faster!

    Thanks Borg
On some mornings when I have early shift, and I get up at 03:30 I can see it floating(well... falling actually according to physics) past in the sky, while having my coffee and cigarette on the balcony.

    NASA Finds Ancient Organic Material

NASA’s Curiosity rover has found new evidence preserved in rocks on Mars that suggests the planet could have supported ancient life, as well as new evidence in the Martian atmosphere that relates to the search for current life on the Red Planet. While not necessarily evidence of life itself, these findings are a good sign for future missions exploring the planet’s surface and subsurface.

RNN) - President Donald Trump announced on Monday he's directing the Pentagon to begin a sixth branch of the military - "space force."
Trump said the new military branch would be a "separate but equal" branch of the military, the Associated Press reported.
The president said he didn't want "China and Russia and other countries leading us."
He was joined in the announcement by Vice President Mike Pence, new NASA administrator Jim Bridenstine, former astronaut Buzz Aldrin and members of his space council.
"I am a big believer you will go out there and take that frontier, which is largely unknown, by man or woman, and you will learn everything there is to know about it, and what you are doing is so important," Trump said.
A mission to Mars will happen "very quickly," possibly because "rich guys" like rockets, the president said.
"As long as it's an American rich person, that's good. They can beat us," he said. "We'll save a little money and they can beat us and we're taking full credit."

Historic twin towers at Cape Canaveral launch site demolished.

    Nice one Cliff!

Historic twin towers at Cape Canaveral launch site demolished Thursday morning July 12, 2018.
The U.S. Air Force on Thursday demolished towers once used to assemble Delta 2 rockets at Cape Canaveral for missions to Mars, four dozen flights to deploy the GPS navigation network, and numerous launches with scientific, commercial and military payloads.

With the push of a button from Brig. Gen. Wayne Monteith, commander of the Air Force’s 45th Space Wing, the demolition occurred just after 7 a.m. EDT (1100 GMT) Thursday at the Complex 17 launch pad, where twin mobile gantries and fixed towers were toppled by explosives.
