Thank you @Hemimax, and, You're welcome.

These doomsday articles happen from time to time remember the Mayan planets, galaxy, alignments foretelling the end of the world back in 2012? This one started from a new book that came out. Then every time it's reviewed the reviewer puts his or her spin on it.

Check the link in the second paragraph from this National Geographic article from January 31, 2018 it takes you to the author's site:
Many times over our planet’s history, Earth’s magnetic poles have reversed, meaning that sometimes a compass pointing north will be aimed at Antarctica rather than the Arctic. This might sound strange, but it’s a relatively predictable quirk. Powered by the machinations of the planet’s spinning iron core, this process of geomagnetic reversal has been doing its thing without much fanfare for eons.

That is, until this week, when a book excerpt describing the phenomenon appeared online. Shortly afterward, numerous websites began trumpeting the doomsday around the corner, a geomagnetic apocalypse in which tumors run rampant, satellites fall from the sky, and life on Earth will cease to exist as we know it.

Just a cool video from the recommended for you list, I just watched:

Dr. Robert Stein, professor of Physics and Astronomy at Michigan State Universe has long envisioned a day when he could use supercomputer programs to "see" through the roiling surface of the sun and glimpse its dynamic interior. He describes his quest and offers ideas about what drives the violent outbursts known as coronal mass ejections, or CMEs, known to disrupt the electrical systems that power our civilization.

Great video Cliff, thanks for posting!

Dr Stein is right about working the computations to match as close as possible to the real thing. Times have really changed, how 'bout the one instruction per punch-card?

I watched it several times to take it all in, especially from 6:00 to 9:06; The magnetic banding and roiling on the surface always amazes me. Good Stuff!

    Clear Skies Cliff!

    Lunar trivia.....

The next full moon will be on Thursday, March 1. There are no full moons in February, due to the two full moons in January and in March. The second full moon in March will occur on Saturday, March 31, and be a Blue Moon.

Tiangong-1 space laboratory to crash to Earth between mid-March and mid-April, according to new ESA estimates

ESA’s Space Debris Office has issued a new updated forecast for the imminent atmospheric re-entry of China’s Tiangong-1 space laboratory, which appears to have been floating in space out of control for almost two years.

The office, located at the European Space Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany, coordinates ESA’s research relating to space debris. As part of its activities, it also keeps a close eye on the upcoming re-entry of China’s Tiangong-1 space station, which is expected to burn up in Earth’s atmosphere soon, but there are fears that some of its components may strike the ground.

According to new calculations, Tiangong-1 should fall to Earth in about one and a half months, most likely between mid-March and mid-April. However, this estimates are always subject to change, due to an array of variables (for instance the variations of the atmosphere).

“The current estimated window is about March 19 to about April 14; this is highly variable,” the Space Debris Office informs.

The update issued on Jan. 29 confirmed that the spacecraft should re-enter somewhere between 43 degrees North and 43 degrees South latitudes.

The Office noted that areas outside of these latitudes can be excluded. This large swath of Earth includes Northern parts of the U.S., as well as countries such as Spain, Italy, Turkey, China, North Korea or Japan in the Northern hemisphere.
When it comes to the Southern hemisphere, most probably those locations which might be affected would be: Chile, Argentina, Southern Australia or New Zealand.

    43rd parallel North I'm inside by 2.72° at 40.28°N,
43rd parallel South is mostly ocean except for southern South America, New Zeland, and Tazmania
