Sounds like a good idea to use it to take photos. Just tossing it into the ocean, not so much.
Do you realize how big and massive the ISS is? It would take a lot of rocket thrust to push that must mass. Even if it had the rocket the acceleration needed would probably tear it apart.
International Space Station Size & Mass
- Pressurized Module Length: 218 feet along the major axis (67 meters)
- Truss Length: 310 feet (94 meters)
- Solar Array Length: 239 feet across both longitudinally aligned arrays (73 meters)
- Mass: 925,335 pounds (419,725 kilograms)
Normally the ISS undergoes only low delta-v reboosts.
NASA Space Station On-Orbit Status 21 January, 2021 - ISS ReboostISS Reboost - Today, the ISS performed a reboost using the aft Progress 75P R&D thrusters. The purpose of this reboost is to set up the conditions for Progress 77P 33-Orbit rendezvous on February 15. The burn duration was 6 minutes 58 seconds with a Delta-V of 0.723 m/s.
