Only got Infinity 1 here, they call it Fibre but I don't, it's Fibre from the exchange to the box just outside the village, opposite end to me, then it comes over the normal copper wires. We had a new line put in here when we moved in and that was just over 23 years ago. We've just got the new Infinity 1 with speeds up to 52Mbps. Makes me laugh if they can bring those speeds now over copper wires why couldn't they do it before, obviously something to do with the Fibre from the exchange to the road side box.

Telus is my ISP and I am on the 100 Mbps plan for Fibre Optics. Unless you are downloading there is really not much perceived difference between my speed and half that, even with video streaming.

Yes Joan my line is FTTC not FTTP. My home is only 90 metres from the cabinet though so that helps.

I can get fibre to the premises but can't afford it at the moment and probably never will. :)

The main exchange is about 5½ miles away from the new box and that is about a mile or just over to my house by road, both on the main road through. I don't know anyone who has fibre all the way from the box to their house and not heard of any road works laying cables.
Like you I'll never be able to afford more speed, I know they offer one that's supposed to be up to 76Mbps but how that works I've no idea.

The 76 Mbps is Infinity 2 Joan. My Infinity 2 is synced at 80 Mbps down but I've never actually got that speed, however the figures in my speedtest aren't that far off. Probably the fact that I've only got 90 metres of copper cable makes a big difference.
