They can be nasty as well, what about a Cairn Terrier they are quite sweet and not too big.

    Yeah, I know and that's why I said I didn't think I could handle one. :)

The rest of the story is that I got a little short haired gal that's about a foot high and has a little dachshund in her duke's mixture heritage. She's long and lean and, as I expected, chose me instead of me choosing her. She was front and center of a huge pen of small dogs yip-yip-yipping at me. When I put my hand to the fence, she took a nip of my finger. I left her alone and was taken to pens that had one or two dogs in each, but none of them were all that eager to be mine. We went outside again and I gravitated to her pen again. She was front and center again, and again she bit me. She bit me a third time and I don't know what made me say it, but I asked for her to come outside the pen.

She was taken to a room where they take prospective adoptees. She was loving on the guy who brought her in. He let her down and she ran around a bit, then had a treat. After a bit, she came up on the couch I was on and that was the end of my resistance. The bites had been love bites, because she immediately jumped into my lap and told me I was hers.

Gracie is fitting in nicely. She's about 8 or 9 months old and has lived in the shelter since she was about four months old. When I took her out of the crate, she ran around and around and around in our huge yard. She has taken to Hubby too.

She must have had some type of training before she became a stray, because she immediately learned to use the doggie door; I just had to push the flap open she she went out it. A few minutes later, she came back in it. It didn't take her long to understand that no is no. She still has to learn what down means, though. And stay! If she thinks I'm going somewhere, she thinks she should go too, which is good. Oh, and her ride home in the crate (I was by myself) was quiet and easy.

She's spayed, has had two of the three puppy shots and is micro-chipped! And no fleas!

You'd think I like the little brat; and yes, she's still a little brat, but I'm pretty sure she'll be easy to train. I'm looking forward to a long life with Gracie.

That's best way to get a pet when they choose you. Most of my dogs came to me and only one that was brought here didn't pan out and had to return him.
Oh, btw, without pictures it didn't happen.
