if you make full system disk image with mr and if you restore it, it will be identical, to the last bit as it was at the time you made the image. no less, no more.
I did in W10 a restore point, but I feel it's not the same.

Do you keep your 3rd party installers on another partition or disk?
I keep copies on a 2nd internal disk which has my Libraries, and a copy on OneDrive(in my case it's 2.5GB for just the installers and portables) in case of a Disk Apocolypse.
I try to keep them updated, but programs that auto update, of course have older installers, but most I need to go to either the developers site or Major Geeks to update.
Well not really my stuff has been spread out during the years so much that I don't really remember where is what. And I've got like games at 3 or 4 different locations, it's like a dumping platform, you don't have any idea where that specific thing is but you know it's there somewhere.

Oh I've thought about if I should in the near future just buy "one harddrive to rule them all" but it's still kinda pricey imo.

Restore point is nothing even close to complete backup.

System restore is not a backup at all and it is also unreliable. You need to make an image.

Restore points just plain suck, a little better(but not by much) is to just open regedit and export your whole registry to somewhere offline. Then if need be, you can reimport it.(all best done, just before tinkering around, so you have the most up-to-date system & installed 3rd party software settings.)

    Fun times.
    not!

good luck, boris. i hope you get things resolved. it's not fun to have a nice new monitor that doesn't work like it should.

You might as well take a pic of your screen with your smartphone. It'll work just as well.....

A bit of overstatement but pretty well like that. It's good for goofing around with drivers and settings but for saving and restoring files it's useless.
