Not on my model Bob as its hidden and you have to take some inside parts off, to even see it, then if the ice is frozen down that tube about 5 or 6 inches, that wouldn't work. Plus once it is frozen, you got to clean all the other ice that's built up inside.
Their are videos on you tube showing different ways. Not all models are the same.

Actually I had just gotten home from work and planned to put a pie in the oven for dinner. Needless to say I didn't get any pie!!

Nope. Just the internal mechanism. Although I was surprised the glass was still intact, but it is designed pretty heavily.
