    The Raspberry Pi Thread

After spaming this thread , The new Raspberry Pi 2, now with Windows 10 support I figured a new thread may be in order.
I have a B+ and one of the new model 2 B's. I just fired up Raspbian on the new one to make sure it works but haven't gotten much farther than that. At some point I want to try the Windows 10 for IoT devices. When it becomes available that is. I've bought a few related items already for my Pi.

I think that's all the toys. One thing I want to do it this, https://learn.adafruit.com/freq-show...tl-sdr-scanner. I have to get a powered USB hub first though. The touch screen and the SDR dongle are a bit power hungry.

I already new it was going to have developer tools built in. They will have to have some kind of programing interface for the GPIO pins etc so you can interface it to other things. I don't get the no IE comment? I fully expect it to have the Metro version of IE. They also say no desktop, but I take that to mean no desktop programs. It will be something like Windows RT or Windows phone. Windows embedded I guess. It will be Metro only.

Did you get your WIFI working? There is a WIFI setup option in the Menu, it's a sub menu. in Raspbian its Menu > Preferences > WIFI Configuration > Once you find it you click scan, then find your network in the list and double click it. Then I think it shows up under manage networks. Open the settings for it enter in your password in the box for PSK and save. Then you should be good to go. Assuming you set it to boot to desktop. If you didn't type startx and hit enter.

If you go to Menu > Internet you'll find Raspberry Pi Resources link that might worth looking at. There is a Pi store link too but I didn't find much of interest to me in there.

Yeah, the only thing I got from the Pi Store was LibreOffice. It was free so I figured why not?

In your first post in this thread you stated "...I want to try the Windows 10 for LoT devices." Was that a typo? It's not LoT devices but IoT (Internet of Things). I'm also interested in trying that out when it's available.

You sure got a lot of extra toys for your Pi 2, I only bought a case for it. I already had Bluetooth & wifi dongles laying around that I could use as well as a Bluetooth keyboard with built-in touch pad.

I'll have to check that out, and yes it was a typo. Fixed now.

Looks like I have some tweaks to do. Keyboard layout is UK instead of US. And my screen resolution is only 1824 x 984 instead of 1920 x 1080. Looks like I have to use a command line text editor to change the keyboard layout. Maybe to fix the screen resolution too. The options for screen resolution are 1824x984 and Auto. Setting it to auto does nothing. I don't have the ambition to tackle it tonight. I think I'll just fire up my laptop next to my Pi so I can see what to do on one screen and do it on the other.

When I placed my Pi2 order on eBay, Chinese new year totally slipped my mind. It didn't get to the plane until the chinese new year week was over. If not for that, it should have been here already. The seller shipped it out fast but the holiday hold up is beyond his control.

Alpha, that's a lot of stufff to buy for the pi. Put the cost together and you can buy a mini pc with it already. :)

The projects I have in mind are those only that has practical use. My first pi is a headless internet radio/music player and surveillance system using spare hardware I already have.

I use an android app to control the music player. As for the internet radio, I use SSH. The stations are already pre-programmed using "mpc" command line.
