Coding project...

I was thinking it might be a fun project(for me) to code up a script(s) to scrape the thread Change A Letter Game [2] and find all of the unique words that have been submitted. Oh and find the total of all of the unique words.

Why?? Because it might be fun to do and I'm wondering how many of the 454,230 possibilities.

A. How many have been used and how many are left..
B Language to use, Python and maybe COBOL for the report at the end of the process.

Going to try this out today and over the week.

Update:
I think I'll make use of http://scrapy.org/ for this project.. it's written in Python and it should make this a much easier project.

Funny thing is when I took an online class on Python the professor (Dr Severance) from U Michigan was pushing the Raspeberry Pi. The class was from Coursera. https://www.coursera.org/course/pythonlearn
Fun class and it's a good way to get a start in Python(Version 2.7.9)..

There are lots of good uses for the Pi. I really need to get one someday. But for now I'll stick to Python on my desktop and I also love Groovy. It's Java on steroids!! Groovy - Home

Update:

Well, I'm going to need to spend some time reviewing the doc for Scrapy before I can begin that part of the project but in the mean time I have another that I can play with.

I found a list of four letter words from a scrabble site and I'll use that as a "data base". Then I take a word(user entered) and find all of the possible new four letter words based on the word the user enters. Then I'll print out all of those words.. yes it's cheating but it's a nice script to play with and get warmed up for the main project.

Oh and it's going to be fun I think.
