    Building a Custom PSU Shroud

    Hi folks,

I thought it might be a good idea to post a dedicated thread about my most recent project just in case anyone else wants to give it a try. :) (Also, somebody else posted some instructions similar to what I'm doing on LTT https://linustechtips.com/main/topic...shroud-how-to/ However, he didn't have to do as many steps as I have to do. )

So after quite a bit of conversation about this in the Last One To Post thread, I decided to try and make a custom PSU shroud out of aluminum. Well, that was the original plan, however my local Home Depot was all out of aluminum so I'm using galvanized steel instead.

    My materials.
    1 12in x 12in sheet of galvanized steel (Gauge: 28)
1 set of tin snips (Went with tin snips cause my dad said it would probably work better than our old jigsaw)
1 can of spray paint/ primer

My most recent achievement has been measuring out where I will need to bend the metal and where I will need to cut it.

In the photo above, the top line is where I will be cutting and the bottom line is where I will be bending it. I plan to get most of this done tonight and then clean it off and paint it!

I'll be sure to post pics of how I'm going to bend it. I will be following HippsieGypsie's directions.

To bend it: Mark the metal where you want to bend it. Take 2 boards and sandwich the metal in between with the edges of the boards on the line. Clamp the boards tight on each end. Bend the metal up using the palms of your hands. Take a wood block and tap it with a hammer along the edge to make it 90°. The sharper (not rounded) the edge is on the board the better (crisper) the bend.

    Update 1: Bending.

Update 2: Testing it out in my case.

Update 3: Cut out a hole for a grommet.

    Update 5: Painting!

Update 6: Testing it out in my case again.
