    It is kind of fun.
You get a bunch of friends out there, for the launch... like a midget party.

Have the kids run and chase and bring the rockets back, from where ever the parachute brought it down... etc.

Maybe bring some sammiches and invite others with rockets to come as well.

There's an organization that hosts rocket launches too.

National Association of Rocketry - NAR

I had the kids bring my rockets back to me after launch. Well, one day they brought back something like this:

Haven't bought much really worth gloating about. New cabinet I guess. Pretty cool. It's where I now have my two desktops placed.

Glad someone liked it. Sometimes I can be very esoteric. Especially with humor. LOL That was pretty damn funny though. Great movie, too! I should watch it again. Been years!

Wanna hear something cool? Of course you do. LOL

Arnold comes around my town around Christmas because his girlfriend lives near here. Not sure if he's still with her or not. I think she's a few years older than I am. And what's really interesting is that back in the '90s my parents worked for a gourmet food distributor in Southern California and one of their contracts (or order takers) was from Arnold's restaurant called Schatzi on Main. Then about a decade latter I met Arnold's accountant at a job I worked at. It's like a small world or something. Well, in addition to that my former next door neighbor knew Dolores O'riordan of the Cranberries personally. He's from Ireland.

Anyway... I'd like to own a prop warhead like that. LOL!

    Interesting adventure...

I built a "range box", a tool box to carry all my rocket launching stuff.
I made it out of two 1x6x48 inch, Red Oak boards.

It looks like this. It's 23" long. The BLUE box shows the weak area. The wood grain on the end pieces is vertical.
Over time... the small area in the BLUE box will weaken and crack.

So... I got two .064 x .75 x 12 inch brass straps. They will go over the weak area and screw into the lower parts of the end pieces. I assumed I'd just go to Home Depot and get some #10 x 1 inch Brass, round head, Phillips, wood screws.

Not so... no one sells them. I checked everywhere. Finally after about 2 hours surfing the web, I found them.
In Detroit. No other screw and bolt company has those exact screws. LOL

The 12" long Brass straps will start at "A" and go up and over the top, and back down to "B".
One strap on each end piece. There will be three screws near "A" and three near "B".

I've seen that happen before. Wimpy motor mount and after ignition, the engine goes straight up through the rocket. Or the rocket jams on the launch rod, and doesn't go anywhere.

Here's the Model Rocket Technical Manual from the 70's... good basic description of everything...

    More info, and rockets, etc...

Estes Rockets <---- way back in the day, these guys started all this.

Categories - Page 1 - eRockets <--- same rockets but cheaper, and much cheaper shipping.

Here's the story, bout a company called the Post Office, who are slowly, but definitely... going nuts...

First read post #2106 above. I ordered 16 screws and 2 drill bits from Detroit, Michigan (RED box).
I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (BLUE box).

    Here's the tracking information...

It seems my tiny little package (16 one inch screws and two 2.5" long drill bits), has decided to take a vacation.
Here's a map for our friends overseas.

And... the tracking website still says the package is going to arrive today.
So, I called them and asked if they now had... teleporters.
