Well, I had to weigh my rocket, to decide which engines to get. (post #2053)
But I have no scale. The rocket is supposed to weigh about 20 oz.

A lot of the small digital scales I looked at only go up to 2 lbs. or so.

But I finally found a decent kitchen scale, zero to 33 lbs., USB rechargeable or batteries. $17

Well, I got my Noctua NH-D15 and I got it installed. What a difference in temps and noise. My old Corsair H100 240 was causing thermal shut down on Prime95 at 85+ degrees C. I ran Prime95 for an hour and it didn't break 66C. I expect this to improve as the paste sets up more thoroughly.

And it's so quiet. I should have done this a long time ago.

Now I can play games again!

20 ounces is 1.25 pounds... If your rocket weighs less than 2 LBS it'd be fine... But a 33 LBS scale is alright I guess. Especially for $17. You should double check the accuracy of the scale with a known weight or something with a known weight like a bag of store bought sugar.

At Bob Lazar's website United Nuclear, he has an awesome scale I want to get that is pretty damn accurate and can count things. So say you need a 500 marbles. You weigh one marble and program that in the scale and then dump a bunch of marbles on the scale and based on that weight the scale will tell you how many marbles there are. Many companies in manufacturing do this with other things that need to be counted quickly. Like crack cocaine... LOL! J/K.

At the United Nuclear website he's also got a pretty decent crystal radio I want to get. Pair that with a good outdoor loop antenna, and the stethoscope headphones and you now have a SHTF receiver...

I use an Evo 212 and have no issues once so ever.... Very cool gaming and not gaming. The difference between air and liquid is actually negligible (small or unimportant). Proper case cooling also plays a major roll.

I did test the scale... it's dead accurate. And I doubt I'll need it to... count rockets.

I wasn't looking for the world's best scale... just one that was accurate, rechargeable and could weigh something over say... 10 lbs.
In model rocketry... weight is highly important. The rocket engines list the weight they can handle at liftoff.

MY 19 oz. rocket so far, weighs 25 oz., and I still have to add more paint, the fireproof parachute protector, and the 36" parachute. There are many model rockets that weigh a lot more, and that's just in the mid power range.

There's high power rockets that get up into the multiple tens of pounds, and IF I start doing them as well... I didn't want to have to buy another scale.

Also, since I've lost all my marbles, I've no need to count them, either.

I was looking at the EVO as well, and it seemed that the Noctua got better reviews. I'm sure I would be good with either one, though my CPU does tend to get pretty hot. I may turn down the Vcore and see if my machine still runs.

This thing sure is a monster though, there is only about 1/4" space between the cooler and my graphics card. I was able to get both fans on it, even though I had to lift the front fan slightly to accommodate my the height of my RAM, I was still able to close my case. Without my AIO radiator in the way at the top of my case, I was also able to remount my DVD drive.

As I sit typing this, my PC is idling at 29C. Room temp is 20C. I haven't gone above 51C today since I adjusted my fan curves. What an improvement.

The Ryzens do run a little hot... Yours is apparently 105 watts. My i7 7700 is 65 watts.

It's bad enough though that my RTX 3060 is a monster watt consumer when I game. I can't even imagine the power bill if I had a Ryzen. LOL! I was thinking about going Ryzen, but damn, those TDPs are insane.

Can't compare those older generations with new ones. TDP is also poor value for comparison specially between Intel and Ryzen, calculations are completely different. With Ryzen TDP is close to actual electrical power used at full load while Intel calculates them from (wasted) power based on temperature and at low loads. Ryzen was always used power more efficiently than intel of same generation and core number. 1st - 3rd gen Ryzen run best at up to 60-63c while 5th gen and up are allowed up to 90 or 95c before throttling although that's extreme value, in reality it's closer to 80-85c for best boost.
So don't count on TDP to choose CPU and cooler for it.
