Here in the UK you need an Account/Subscription to use Netflix, Prime Video, Disney Plus, on ROKU, though there are a number of Free content providers, but the content is not that current or mainstream.

There are a number of catchup / live free to air services available but these are the ones that are covered by the TV licencing here in the UK - BBC etc, that are also available on the net, (geographically locked

I have one connected on to my Bedroom TV - which is a smart tv but an old slower model so the ROKU is worth it to improve the usability, I have the subs to the main providers anyway

No I mean those subscription channels like Netflix, Hulu, Disney - are you saying you only have to pay for the device then after that those channels are free? Cause if that's the case I'll snatch up a Roku device tomorrow.

    Anyway, I don't think so, but.... ???
Oh, those are still pay channels. But roku still has a lot of free content and some free news channels.

Hate to admit it but I use my Roku about 50/50 vrs my cable subscription. Slowly cutting my cable channels, maybe after football season. Red Zone is $5/month.

That's the same reason here - old smart TV with no apps like Prime video, Disney, or Netflix. Ironically my cable box has Netflix, and Prime video, and some other apps, but no Disney+

My wife's TV I bought for her last year is a smart TV with all the latest apps like Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, Amazon, but its only a 43 inch TV sitting it the back room. Anyway, I still might get a Roku for my main TV if not for anything else but the Disney+ since I'm a big Marvel universe fan

Yeah, that's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation.

@meebers, I like that case, especially since it has two front drive bays where you can install a DVD/CD drive.

Yeah, I know some say CD's are a thing of the past but don't tell my collection that...

This is just half my collection. I also have a vinyl collection but it isn't as big as it once was. It's now under a thousand. My CD collection is near three thousand

I was thinking more in the line of keeping my grilled cheese warm in at least one of the bays ??

Thanks. Generally they build to order but really can stretch it, even in good times. With the chip shortage and Covid, just adds to the wait misery. I have plenty to keep me busy till then.
