Turtleshell wax with Teflon is what I used many years, never had to wash truck with anything but clean water. It's enough to apply once or twice a year.
I have to admit I don't wash mine, Where I live is not suitable, I'd need a very long hose,
I let the local Hand wash sort it out - they are quick and do a good job for £5, (US$ 6.60)
It's hard to find now, but I used to love Rain Dance car wax. I've tried many of them and Rain Dance was the best I found.
You'd be shocked how car detailing has advanced. I won't be using the foamer and such most of the time, it will be this:

Wash it inside if you want. Black car has forced me to learn After I get it paint corrected and coated, I won't ever need to wax it, just clean it off

I've been amazed at the way that Wrapping has come along, it's very possible now to wrap a new car, and at the point of reselling remove the Wrap to show perfect paint
