Anybody that ever worked on machines knows, Green=Start. Red=Stop, big red mushroom= TROUBLE, push and run like hell.Laughing Out Loud
I thought this group was for high tech people using a high tech Operating System.
That's true. A group of very helpful and knowledgeable people that took me by the hand and led me through an SSD upgrade and other things small and large
What I didn't know is at 65 I'd be one of the younger ones
Seems like there are many experienced, smart people who
somewhere in their early years got bitten by the computer bug
That Computer addiction, like Malaria, has no cure
Which reminds me of another widely shared trait
Curiosity. Who hasn't been tempted to Push A Button, especially when told not to?
Our team, a PC & Macintosh Upgrade team, was given an old microwave laboratory to work out of
at a major defense contractor
All the equipment was gone, except for an Unmarked Big Red Button on the wall about shoulder height
Our boss made a big point of warning us not to touch that button. He said he had asked around about
it and nobody knew. It was leftover from some project in the '50s
My friend Raul would come in every morning and standing within reach of the button glare at it
It go to be a running joke that the boss would come in every morning, see Raul glaring at the button,
and have to warn him off
We actually didn't press that button for 3 months, but one afternoon it got pressed.
The power went off in the lab and several nearby rooms
It was an emergency power cutoff
Raul was pissed because he was out when the unknown person (one of us) punched the button
It was an old building and it literally took hours to reset the power
