Microsoft is sometimes silly.

I don't have an issue with you Jeff or Lee. It Microsoft I have the issue with. Like I said above a combination to me is 50/50 not 10/50 or 90/10 most people would assume that. I thought the whole point was to attract Windows 7 uses to Windows 10. Microsoft even admitted in that same article that millions use Windows 7. If Microsoft came out and said they were not interested attracting Windows 7 there would be no issue.

But what you have is 50/50. Or as close to it as you're going to get now or in the future. Let's face it, MS is not going to head backwards in it's interpretation of what a modern UI should look like and Win7 UI is the past.

Having said that, I still think you or anyone should have the option at the end of the day to use a third party tool like Classic Shell or Start8.

Are you saying there are Windows 7 design elements, where? The only one I saw was the folders but that changing as well.

I guess we going to have to disagree on what these statements meant.

For a non-tech person. Those statement re-quoted below make it seem like Windows 10 will look like windows 7 and have design elements from both windows 7 and 8. Those statements are the reason I tried Windows 10 to begin with. I saw it like wow something that going to be like windows 7 with 8 mixed in. I read some of the feedback and comments on the web they interpreted the statements the way I did. I guess Microsoft needs to tell their employees to it.

When you put all that together, the end result looks a lot like Windows 7. That's intentional. Microsoft's Joe Belfiore pointed to the millions of customers still using Windows 7, and said the company wants to make their transition to Windows 10 much more comfortable than the unfamiliar leap to Windows 8 two years ago. "We want all these Windows 7 users to have the sentiment that yesterday they were driving a first-generation Prius, and now with Windows 10 it's like a Tesla."
"Windows 10 will deliver the right experience on the right device at the right time," said Microsoft's Terry Myerson. "Windows 10 will run on the broadest types of devices ever." You can expect a unique user interface depending on what you're running Windows on; images shown at the event line up with leaks that have surfaced in recent weeks. It's basically a combination of Windows 7 and 8 that borrows design elements from each of Microsoft's two most recent operating systems.

All I can say is you will likely have the option to use Classic Shell or Start8 if you chose to use Win10.

Yes I know but that not the point unless Microsoft blocks it but never mind on that. The question I have for you where is the 50 percent of Windows 7 on Windows 10?

^^ I have to say that gagging the percentage of Win7/Win8 is subjective matter. From what I see it's about a 50/50 mix. You do have a start menu and it lest you at all of your programs/apps plus you can pin your tiles on it in the right hand section if you like. To me that's about as 50/50 as it's going to get.

You seem to want more of a Win7 flavor and that's why I point out that Classic Shell/Start8 will be the way to go for you, and yes MS will likely let that run in Win10.

And I ask, Why test/use Win10 if you like Win7 so much?? At this point you have had a chance to see what MS has come up with for the start menu and if you don't like the concept propose ideas and send them in to MS.

Or .. well just stick with Win7. It's going to be around for some time.,

    Have a good weekend,
    Jeff :)

You are right Jeff, I prefer windows 7. I am not testing Microsoft windows 10 anymore including the consumer preview. I said in earlier thread I was considering testing out the 9879 and/or the consumer preview but that has changed. Microsoft did something in the U.S. that I cannot support but I don't think it is allowed to be discussed here.
