    what ever way I try my camera will not work now .should have left well enough alone I guess
    is says camera not connected .and a bunch of failed to's

    The blue end of the cable. It has a blue tip/strip on one side and the bare contacts on the other. I put the side with the blue bar across it on the same side the locking bar is on. If you redid your SD Card, don't forget to run the sudo raspi-config and enable the camera.

    with the camera hooked up and you turn on the pi ,does you camera have a small red light or green light on, when you send the raspistill -o cam.jpg command

    I can't see the LED, the mount covers it over. Where is the led at? And how easy is it to see?

    I can see a red glow on the card when I run raspistill -o cam.jpg. It's lit up as long as the video is on screen. It goes out again when the window closes.

    So yours is red all the time?

    no light till I run command ,then it is red and stays red ,message camera not found ,,and its enabled in config, maybe I handles it to much and it got a static zapp,,,, any way I give up ..will spend the winter building the TV and radio box .not buying anything else for the Pi .till I retire full time ,lol

    ESD is a concern, especially for stuff like that with no case or cover over the electronics. Mine lights up red while the video window is open, then goes off again. You have the ribbon cable in the camera port (CSI) right, not accidently in the display port (DSI). They are identical, would be an easy mistake to make. I'm going to go watch some football. I likely won't be online again until tomorrow. Will check back then.

    all connections are correct ,connected same now as when it worked ,
