A class/course to learn Python is starting on Oct 23rd...

Just an FYI to anyone who might be interested in learning how to program this is one of the best introduction classes I have found to date.

1 It's free but there is a fee if you want a certificate.
2 The instructor is an Associate Professor from the University of Michigan - Dr Severance.
3 There is a book supplied and it's a free download
4 You don't have to install any software onto your PC/Device. All you need to use is a browser, either Chrome or a Firefox like one. Keep in mind that IE will not work .. it's been tested but the coding tool is simply incompatible with IE.

    About this Course

This course aims to teach everyone the basics of programming computers using Python. We cover the basics of how one constructs a program from a series of simple instructions in Python. The course has no pre-requisites and avoids all but the simplest mathematics. Anyone with moderate computer experience should be able to master the materials in this course. This course will cover Chapters 1-5 of the textbook “Python for Informatics”. This course is equivalent to the first half of the 11-week "Programming for Everybody (Python)" course. Once a student completes this course, they will be ready to take more advanced programming courses.

Thanks for the info. Just signed up for the free part. Might want to fix the typo in your thread title. I was thinking or learning python so I could code some stuff on my Raspberry Pi. This may be the nudge I need to actually move forward and get going.

Can you point out the typo.. I'm in a stupid mode right now and you're welcome. It's a great class and I'm signed up for a second go at it. I received a certificate with honors the first time but this time I want to do it for fun.

It's fixed now, it originally said Pyton or something instead of Python.
