can you recommend a low budget tablet?

I'll probably only visit a few websites and do all other kinds of light tasks, e.g. watching news, checking messages, won't even send one.
It is good to come with data SIM slot but not necessary at all, WiFi is enough.
Would a tablet sold for $50-$75 be good enough? Will it be too bad?

Do you recommend an Amazon tablet? Is it true that apps on Google can't be installed and only apps on Amazon store can be used?

Amazon fire tablets can only access Amazon Store unless you hack device (not simple).

Personally I avoid tablets with data sims as the data sim plans are usually pricey. Usually cheaper to use a mobile plan with data included, and just copy data to tablet.

For your use a cheap tablet is ok but remember quality comes at a price. I found the charging ports tend to get loose after a while, and eventually hard to charge. Most cheap tablets still use old usb micro rather than more robust usb C.

So personally , I treat cheap tablets as a disposable commodity (so if they break, get lost etc), I just shrug my shoulders and buy a new one. Never use these to store critical data (use google drive, onedrive etc).

Personally, I tend to spend about $200 CAD on tablets. Something that I am going to carry around with me has to be robust and has to work reliably. I have a great Samsung Galaxy Tab A that is wonderful, and cost me about $150 CAD on sale at Best Buy last year.

If you want a decent tablet, you cannot go cheap. As @cereberus said, the charging ports can go bad pretty easily on a cheap tablet, and they are slowwwww.

Now if my Samsung was just a bit smaller so it fit in my little hands better, I would be off to the races.

Oh, I overlooked the fact that cheap tablets might have problems with their charging ports. How about Amazon's tablet? e.g. Fire HD 8 or something similar.... I think Amazon is a good brand, but I don't know about their hardware. Is it likely to get problematic charging ports or go wrong with Amazon's tablet? I find that their tablets on the top of searching results are usually around $50-$100

Yes, I won't treat it seriously or use it to store anything important. As I said, I will only use it for browsing some websites. On average how long will a cheap tablet last before significant problems appear which will affect a user's overall experience? It is also a weighing factor because if it would probably last less than a year then chances I will look for a more experience range of tablets.

It rarher depends where you live. In UK, such purchases are guaranteed 1 year and Amazon are obliged to repair (they just replace) it. In US, I think you only get 3 months. So financial risk is lower in UK.

In the end, it is pot luck. It could last several years, or only a year or so.

Also, you also do not know how long a more expensive model will last, so most obvious advice is not to spend more than you can afford to lose.

Is it wiser to get a smartphone with a bigger screen rather than to get a tablet if I just intend to look at websites and read stories and fictions with a bigger screen?
