That's why it's better to have a CPU fast in single-core operations with a few cores (see Intel) than have a CPU with too many cores and poor single-core performance (see AMD). Of course it depends on what you are using your computer for. Maybe some games benefit from many cores but I think the majority doesn't make use of too many cores and would have better performance with a CPU fast in single-core operations. Also most creativity applications (Photoshop etc) hardly use many cores. Do the math.
