    Good morning / afternoon folks.

It's 68° this morn, we hit 89° yesterday. Supposed to only be in the low 80's today.
    Good morning Borg.

It's warmed up a bit here, but only in the mid 60's this afternoon. That's about the average for the time of year, so not too bad.

With little or no risk of a late frost it was time for me to move my calamondin orange tree outdoors for the summer.
I planted this as a pip 43 years ago, it's now taller than I am.

The scientific name of calamondin orange is x Citrofortunella macrocarpa, and it’s thought to be a natural hybrid between a mandarin and a kumquat.

Okay day here, started with a lot of rain.

This is the first time I've had so much fruit, until now it has had no more than half a dozen in a year.

It has an intense tangerine/mandarin flavour - it's also intensely sharp! As it says in my link above, it has... "...small yellow/orange fruit, which are used like lemons or limes in drinks and food, or eaten raw for a pop of sweet-sour flavour, the taste somewhere between a lemon and a satsuma".

Very neat to have kept and grown a tree for 43 years. Well done.

If I had known then what I know now I may not have started from a pip. Apparently it takes at least 15-20 years for citrus to become mature enough to flower. My first fruit was in year 25

I have taken a few cuttings, I'm hopeful they will mature a lot quicker than that.
