It's been getting top-slot coverage here in the UK. The design of the bridge spreads the stresses evenly throughout the structure, each part is supporting/balancing all the rest.
Take out a support tower and the whole lot goes.....

Sort of amazing they didn't have those large piers in front of supports to deflect ships. Maybe they did and the beast was so big it just plowed the pier out of the way.

Watch harbors watching this say they have to assign tub boats until you are clear of harbor. Costs and time will escalate.

I think the insurance company that they are covered will not be able to meet the cost of that.
