Morning Mike. Did my blowing yesterday. Hopefully last time for this season.

Morning Borg. Yes later this week we get a series of days with well above freezing. Good thing too, the robins are back and they eats bugs so we need the lawns exposed.

Speaking of bugs, I read this year is supposed to be a super cicada year, a few generations will come out at once. Last time that happened was interesting, a few years ago we had a big bloom, they were all over everything. The cat gets a kick out of them, she keeps bringing them into the house.

Yep, seen a few Robins again recently....

After 13 years, Brood XIX is set to emerge in the spring of 2024 in 14 states across the Southeast and Midwest, and the 17-year Brood XIII will emerge in five Midwestern states around the same time, according to Cicada Mania. This double emergence is the first time this has happened in 221 years.

Yes several broods at once. Supposedly there will be millions if not billions.

We get them but not like our southern friends.

That said as things warm up insects are moving north.

I thought it was pretty interesting to see, a few years ago we had the small red ones come out en masse, weird seeing some of the trees have a red hue to them & then you realize there's 100's of cicadas all over them.

Kinda funny when the cat drags one in & suddenly it decides to buzz & it makes me jump.

Well I guess they must have a purpose in their strange life cycle. Not sure what eats them.
