Morning Ken.
Yeah, unfortunately Dell & sound issues go hand in hand. All their drivers for sound are a mess.
I'm not happy about putting a BIOS update in, too much chance for something major to go wrong. I think it was like 10 yrs ago Dell released a BIOS update that bricked some PC's. I know it's a lot safer then it used to be but still makes me nervous applying those.
So how much snow did you get?
Morning Computiac.
You know Ken it might be worth it to get a sound card with all the mess with the drivers & such.
Hell, I'm beginning to think all Dell customers should get a sound card just to be safe.
BTW, do they even make sound cards anymore? I would imagine they do but that seems like an old concept.
When I fired this up & there was no sound, calling the tech in India they had me d/l the realtek software or something from the driver base at the Dell site. I looked to se if I still have the package but I don't so not sure what it's called, sorry.
Morning Borg. Had enough snow to make grass white. Maybe 1/2 inch. Once it started to warm it was pretty much gone except where it was piled.
This is a laptop so a sound card would be difficult. I'm hoping we can chase with Dell engineering. We've uninstalled and re-installed the sound drivers so many times I lost track.
Morning Mike.
Oh, you're dealing with a lappy. Yeah, that's a problem.
Did you try that EQ proggie I posted a couple weeks back? Don't know if that would help it or not.
The thing you're dealing with is that damn sound chip they put in all their mobo's. Wish they would quit doing that. Plus I think Intel has some kind of a sound driver in there as well.
Hope you get it sorted soon. Ridiculous, a basic item like sound being such a big issue for them.
Glad you didn't get too much snow.
No I didn't try that. The driver is actually failing and needs to be loaded with a restart.
