    cloning to new lappy

so eventually I've got my newly acquired lappy from the street corner to work ,had no hard drive in so bought a 512gig SSD, it only has 2gig ram so gonna add another 2gig soon (max the motherboard can handle). laptop keyboard doesn't work so gonna replace that it'll be cheap. ATM using external keyboard .
other than that everything works 100s
btw I 1st tried cloning with easeUS , free version, but at the end it seems its not free
then used macrium and cloned with no hitch everything perfect
all I gotto do now is deactivate my windows register key from old desktop then activate it on lappy .
    slowly getting there lol
    ima update system specs soon
    thought id let everyone know

A suggestion: Since the max that this system can handle is 4 GB, there's no real sense if running a 64-bit OS. My suggestion would be to run Win 10 32-bit to save yourself a small amount of system resources since every little bit will count for you.

Now, you mention cloning. Since that system had / has only 2 GB RAM currently, what OS is it even running? I would suspect that it is not running Win 10, or is it?

its running the same windows that was on my desktop ,win10,64 bit . Desktop had 3gig ram and was running fine ,even running quite nicely on 2gig now ,maybe the ssd helps yes ?
i did look into the 32bit option some time ago and it seems feasible, my only concern is what if i want to download some program that doesn't support 32bit ? and how do i change to 32 bit without loosing my registered key , i mean i don't want to buy windows again...

Changing between 32-bit and 64-bit makes no difference as far as the key is concerned. Besides, if you already activated Windows on that system, there should be no need to ever use that key again.

Also, there are not many apps that don't support 32-bit. But that is simply something you might want to experiment with. Make a full disk image backup of the system running 64-bit Windows first so that you can easily get bhack to where you are now if something does not work out when testing 32-bit.

32bit OS is deadlocking a 64bit computer regardless of 4gb physical ram or not. 2^address bits is what is accounted for in a basic sense and its way to much math after that.

32bit Operating system can only address 4GB where it is /2 between the system. Yes i understand the computer only has 4GB of ram but if it is a 64bit CPU you should use 64bit OS. its more functional, You lose some instructions if you don't and you lose features and performance the CPU becomes locked in. The computer does use more memory but its negligible.

Many applications are starting to move away from 32bit and in general 32bit software is phasing out it never fully go away in a parity sense will because we will never leave 64bit in our lifetime unless something really radical happens with computers. But it means if you lock yourself to 32bit then you miss out on 64bit where as on 64bit you can do both.

i don't see any real benefit why you would not use 64bit.

laptop is 64bit system, think i'll just stick with what I've got going now,it should run ok with 4gig ram as it was ok with 3gig before ,plus now the ssd should help .
if i want to change to 32 bit i'd have to do a clean install with 32bit version ,from what i could gather ...not in a mood for that hassle lol
    thanks guys

Yea it should work ok it just won't be able to do a lot out of its confines dual core celeron.

heavy multitasking no good look into a web browser that is good for low usage. Turning off Superfetch or Sysmain would be a way to minimize memory overhead but it would be slow and the computer is already good at that so its hard to suggest something like this. Allthough if you are only doing some real light tasks on it you can consider something like this.
