Do you buy fancier shoe laces for your favorite sneakers?

My niece is a big AF1 fan and she has dozens of different laces just so she can swap them out for "extra coolness". (Aside from the ones that came with the sneakers) she's bought various types of pink laces, rope laces, curly laces, rainbow-colored ones, laces with gold aglets, classic tips, and so on and so forth... Of course, it's mostly about updating her Insta profile (she is into skating as well).

Admittedly, I also buy spares (most often white shoe laces), but only for hiking/camping purposes - I don't want to end up with loose footwear while in the woods...
Was just wondering if anyone here can relate to my or my niece's habits :)

I've actually developed a similar habit ever since I started going on mountain climbing trips. Not that I'm doing something too extreme or whatever, but shoelaces can get caught on random branches and wild vegetation, so packing a spare one is a must. A few of the buddies in our group are quite experienced, and this is one of the first things they advised me to follow.

Right, ending up unable to secure your footwear while up there is super-annoying, can very well end the trip for that person right away... I'm careful like that as well, but I'm also kind of interested in how the new laces can "refresh" the look of my favorite (and well-worn!) sneakers. I often get a few off-white laces since they're quite versatile in that regard, they'll match most shoe designs almost by default
