Hdmi cable overheating causing display issues.
I'm running a Displayport out from a 7900xtx to HDMI in on a 55" TCL 6 series.
The resolution is 3840x2160@144hz.
General use is fine, displayport side is cold but the hdmi side on the TV can get HOT while gaming. Not hot enough to burn skin but it feels around 110f. Not an accurate guess, I don't own a thermal camera.
I have tried 3 different cables rated for 4k@144hz that have their own issues.
Best cable - Random flickering
Good cable - Flickering and the occasional split second black screen.
Worst cable - No flickering but has a black split second screen every 5 minutes.
Turning down to 120hz does alleviate the issue but I hate compromising.
Using different hdmi ports on the TV has the same results.
