Hdmi cable overheating causing display issues.

    I'm running a Displayport out from a 7900xtx to HDMI in on a 55" TCL 6 series.
    The resolution is 3840x2160@144hz.
General use is fine, displayport side is cold but the hdmi side on the TV can get HOT while gaming. Not hot enough to burn skin but it feels around 110f. Not an accurate guess, I don't own a thermal camera.

I have tried 3 different cables rated for 4k@144hz that have their own issues.
    Best cable - Random flickering
Good cable - Flickering and the occasional split second black screen.
Worst cable - No flickering but has a black split second screen every 5 minutes.

Turning down to 120hz does alleviate the issue but I hate compromising.
Using different hdmi ports on the TV has the same results.

No way that cable can overheat from using it. 1's and 0's do not generate heat.

I don't know how else to explain it other than, idle cable is cold and when gaming cable is hot.

it does carry power like 3.3v for display port and 5 volts for HDMI.

link the adapter page where you bought it.

Let me guess, it is all bundled up with a bunch of cables stuck behind the PC.

Not enough amps & watts to generate enough heat to make a cable warm.

Well there is considering there is no other way for the cable to get hot, there is power involved so this is the reason why its getting hot, it will be bad adapter it might not be the right gauge or the wiring is not that good or the TV is sucking more than the cable is rated to supply.

The cables are not bunched up. They're all just the right length for my setup.
    I'm not using any adapters.
Here are the cables I have been using
    Techtobox
    Maxonar
I now realize why the Maxonar is having the worst issues.
The 3rd cable was an Ebay purchase that no longer has a valid link

The techtobox says 4k@144hz. Am I wrong to think that's good for 3840x2160?
