No. I think I'm about to have a little disagreement with a certain member who just might he knows it all, if you know what I mean.

Just making sure of some facts.
I do not know of a way to make a partition permanent. But you can hide the contents from Windows but not Linux.

Well, if someone such as I did upgrades to "the next OS", then the partition isn't needed anymore. Just wasting HD real estate.
I agree, I made recovery disks for this lappy and an up to date image. Recovery partition is gone.
I have no intention of going back. But just incase...
Do believe I had to use partition magic to get rid of the Partition.

Usually it's about 450Mb or so .. in the long run it's not that much space to recover.

If you go with a nice clean image you also don't have all the bloatware manufacturers bundle in the recovery partition.

I have seen some several GB in size due to the crapware installed.

That's it in a nutshell. If the partition is created with a Linux/Open source-type software Windows will sometimes recognize it, but cannot delete it. I can't remember what my Acer partition was made from, but it wasn't Windows or MS software. That I know for sure.

True, but some of these lappies' HDs aren't that big, especially if one wants to dual boot. It's a lappy I'm referring to.

How can I put this so as not to mean so harsh....Mother Nature never invites us to live anywhere. That's our choice. If I live next to or close to a river, I should expect a flood every so often. If I live in tornado alley, I should expect a tornado every so often. If I live on the east coast, FL, or LA, I should expect a hurricane every so often. If I live in the woods, I should expect a fire every so often. In any of these situations I should be prepared for the worse. My heart goes out to them, but I don't feel sorry for them. That's where they chose to live.

Hopefully no one gets injured or killed and they have the proper insurance to recover their losses.
I have to agree with you mmmmmaX. Where I live, people build their million dollar plus house's
right on the edge of the mean high tide waterline. Do they think about this when they are building them ?

Hell no ! Then they are the first ones to scream help when a storm surge wash's their new hardwood floor's for them.
Let alone a real storm with waves washing over the roof.

Then two day's ago a lady walking on a nature trail has two bears follow her. Hmm.

    What does she do ?
She stops and video tape's one of them come right up to her and place his teeth on her ankle.
Big deal, didn't even leave a mark, well maybe some bear spit. Now the trail is shut down and the forest service is
looking for the bear to put it down. Just because some idiot didn't want to scare the bear's away.

I waiting for the petition to save the bear and relocate it up north and I will sign it.

Bottom line is people don't think first, they are greedy.

I see you had a nice nap. Welcome back to the living.

I hear you. Not saying we can't choose to live where we want. It's just don't complain if Mother Nature has her way. After all > It's not nice to fool (with) Mother Nature.

    Where is everyone else?
