It looks like Windows has kicked out whatever program you had associated with PDFs and MS is suggesting Edge. It happens from time to time.
I selected "PDF-XChange Viewer" as the default app, restarted Windows, and double-clicked on a PDF file, which was then opened with "PDF-XChange Viewer". The following Registry key has remained unchanged.

    Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\pdf_auto_file\shell\open\command

    REG QUERY "HKCR\pdf_auto_file\shell\open\command"

Run the above command from PowerShell and see what the default app is.
    The following is my example:
    Code:
    Windows PowerShell
Copyright (C) Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

Try the new cross-platform PowerShell https://aka.ms/pscore6

    PS C:\Users\Matthew_Wai> REG QUERY "HKCR\pdf_auto_file\shell\open\command"

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\pdf_auto_file\shell\open\command
        (Default) REG_SZ "D:\Software\PDF readers\PDF-XChange Viewer\PDF-XChange Viewer portable\No need to open this\PDF-XChangeViewerPortable.exe" "%1"

    PS C:\Users\Matthew_Wai>

Lol. MS is saying that because you are a naughty boy we are giving you a chance to fall in line and use Edge,

    Good morning/evening all.

Today not going so well. Heard the furnace/heater sound like crap. It's got a vibration like an earthquake in California and it may be a lose housing to the blower motor or fan inducer. So need to check that out. Odd it would be any one of those motors though since they're only a few years old FFS! I had other plans, damn it!

I bought lots of spare parts for this old beast on eBay for future disaster knowing full well parts are priced quadruple with the HVAC tech. Screw that, I'll fix it myself! LOL! I mean FFS, the world's knowledge is at your finger tips on the Internet, right?
