I don't have AC. I survived by opening all the windows overnight to let the heat out, then closing them and all the curtains by day to trap the cool air inside. Never got over 28°C indoors.

That is actually impressive temperature. Do you have a stone build house? or a modern crap quality house :) no you can not have one of those as i have one of those.. and the temperature inside is almost the same as the outside if not heated or cooled down. *lol*
so i have 28C inside as soon it is 29/30outside. that is crappy.

No, not stone built. It's just a modern(ish) house built in the '60s. But it does have double glazing, cavity wall insulation and loft insulation. Normally that does the job of keeping the heat from escaping in winter, but in the height of the heatwave it was equally effective at stopping the heat getting in.

I just had to make sure that I let the cool night air in, then first thing in the morning shut all the doors, windows and curtains to keep the cool air trapped inside for as long as possible

I have double glazing too.. waiting to get triple glazing. But i have four big nasty windows west/southwest so i get a lot of heat thru them as i don't have something that shades the windows on the outside. So the AC is my saving when the temperature outside goes to high and it stays over 20c at nighttime. Those days is hell without AC.. (in my world i who have no problem with -20C)
