    You do know that it's supposed to be longer than War and Peace? When I first heard that I borrowed a copy from my local library. I got 300 pages into it and nothing had happened yet, it was still introducing characters. Never did finish it

    I've run into a few books like that. A few manage to progress the story amid all the characterization.
    Most don't.

    Homer's Iliad and Odyssey were kind of like that.
    No one died nameless in either of those tales.




    And then... there was Thomas Hardy's "Jude the Obscure".
    The writing was fine... the story though, made me want to slit my wrists afterwards. LOL

    I had strep throat when I was about 9-10. Even that was cheerier than Jude the Obscure.
