@Borg 386 - Please check if you have software installed called Realtek Audio Console. If you do open it and go into settings - enable option "Enable Jack Detection when device plugged in"

Thanks, unfortunately there's no such console with these drivers, apparently that disappeared with 10 & 11. I had it on the last PC & the PC before that. Not on this. Or with the latest drivers I got, which were several. Some suggestions to get it back are d/l the older driver, which it came bundled with.

Like I said, I think I'm just going to get a sound card & be done with this.
