Yes, on W11, you need to take ownership first, which can take a bit. It has to walk thru several bazillion little files and change them. Then you can delete the LCU Rollup package. Generally I don't do it that way. After a couple of days I run my component store cleanups and it takes the LCU with it. Your choice.

Normally that is what I've always done in the past ...that is take ownership 1st, then delete it. This time it did not work. I ended up downloading a app that was suppose to remove just about anything on Win 10 or 11 ... ran it and it removed that file in LCU.
Cleaning up the component store, whether you start it from DISM or Disk Clean-up's 'windows update cleanup' will delete all but the latest package from the LCU folder.

Microsoft have tightened up permissions for the LCU folder in Windows 11. But there's no need to take ownership every month, it is far easier (with a little advanced planning) to return permissions to those used in Windows 10. The key is the permissions for the LCU folder itself.

All you need to do is give the Administrators group full control for the LCU folder, it had full permission in W10, but was 'demoted' to read/list in W11. Once you have given back full control, for all future LCU packages you will be able to delete them as easily in W11 as you could in W10.

...which I then go in and delete manually. As posted previously.

If I should not continue doing this, please advise.

I know this post was directed to Mike. Apologies for interrupting, only trying to make clear.
