Looking for a Google Maps Substitue (Android App)

The diner job I work at has me doing more in-town food deliveries, and half the time I use google maps to find my way to my destination, whether or not I've been living in the town im in for a long time (I don't know who is who extensively, im not a born and bred local, plus we moved a lot due to my father's military obligations before he retired). Lately, google maps has been coming up short on half the houses I put the addresses for google maps into (maybe part of that is cashier error not putting the location on the ticket properly, maybe part of that is customer faults, maybe google is deciding to shift focus away from maps and shirk performance or whatever, idk), the last delivery I did yesterday had me pointed towards an empty dirt lot where I expected a house to be, one delivery had me pointed towards an empty house with junk in it (not the bad empty kind with bad people, but like half-baked deconstruction work and somesuch), so while ill still be using Google Maps on my phone for my delivery work, I need a better/good enough substitute (preferably an app with no ads and no need to pay for a subscription service for actual performance, unless there is none, then otherwise one with an acceptable payment plan)

Is there a map app available for android phones that works marginally/greatly better than google maps, is more accurate than them, and is either completely free or if its a subscription based service at an acceptable price tag, or would the only better solution be to buy a separate GPS tablet and use that to find my way around town and to my delivery destinations?

Part of my frustration with google maps/my delivery job(s), is half the homes I try to find either don't have visible house numbers, or either do have them but they're written too small on a mailbox for me to read unless I press my face against it, or their porch lights drown out the visibility of the house numbers so I have to get on foot and go up to the house and ask the residents "are you [insert house number here], or did I get the wrong house", and that gets tiring very fast. And when I get wrong directions or their house is in an out there part of town that google can't find for some reason, if I try to call them, they don't pick up; any help is greatly appreciated, and very much needed at this point

I’ve used Waze before and it’s great!

I believe it’s made by user information so it is always up-to-date and reliable.

I havent tried them yet, heard of them, but that was so long ago. the app page lists it as "containing ads", so I guess it runs on a payment service or whatever to get rid of them. level with me, how much $ is it to get rid of them?

so I tried waze yesterday, back and forth'ing between it and google maps to see if it matches up good enough. First thing I noticed, no ads.....which is weird since its google play store page says it has ads, so unless those ads only shows after more than a few minutes of use, then yay no ads? Second, it took me down bumpy roads with **** asphalt coverage and more gravel than anything else. I don't mind taking these roads if the residence im delivering to is located down one of these roads and I got no choice in the matter, but for a smoother drive, i'd like to keep to smoother roads, it'd also keep whatever food or drinks im delivering from jostling around too much and potentially ruining their food and them giving the deli a dressing down and then I get a dressing down afterwards because "insert stupid argumentative reason here and blahblahblah"

ill keep using waze for a week, but so far.....its doing fairly

took a bit for me to find. that tutorial used an older version of waze, I had to go to settings > navigation > unpaved roads. I want to set to don't allow, but at the same time I see avoid long ones. I said ill use waze for a week, but maybe a week and some change instead, and ill try out "avoid long ones" since I don't know how waze will act if I have to take a dirt path (as in no choice but to) to deliver some food and its on "no dirt paths". unless that worry would be unfounded and i can keep it at no unpaved roads with little to no problems?

You'll have to experiment and see what works best for you and your local roads.

its been a while since i've been using waze. its covered some bases google maps hasn't, its gotten me to my destinations when needed, but compared to google maps, its actually putting me down slower routes moreso than google maps. For instance, if I use google maps to deliver food to a destination that it can find, it would find for me the shortest route possible, which means mostly taking more of the main (35 mph) roads than the lesser (25 mph) roads. With waze, it wants me to cut through more of the 25 mph residential roads to make my way to the 35 mph main roads, when I could be faster doing the exact opposite of what waze tells me to take

overall, even if its done its job as a google maps alt, I can't see myself using it as a permanent replacement to google maps if it increases my delivery time and lets the food im trying to deliver get cold, because then (mostly on really crap days) they call the deli, complain to the manager on duty, then throw shade my way because i took too long or whatever excuse they want to cook up. eventually if it piles up like this (when im trying my best to get there fast and not mess their food up while obeying road rules and regulations), im going to get in trouble with my boss, and I don't want that

    Hello BrokenDaily,

Thanks for your update ......... have you asked other locals in your field what they recommend/use vs GMaps/Waze?
