Funny thing . . . daughter is trying to say that COVID test results don't actually mean I'm positive; that anyone with a cold will test positive . . . etc., etc., etc., blah, blah, blah . . . Why is it then that she's not willing to get in a car with me and go to the store?

The main failing of the Lateral Flow test is a false negative. If it says you have Covid you can be 99.97% sure it's correct.

Lateral flow tests have an estimated specificity of at least 99.97%, which means that fewer than 3 in every 10,000 tests will result in a false positive.

The real problem here is that my first COVID test was positive, but when I went to my doctor to have it verified, I was negative. After the initial 10 day quarantine, I wanted another negative test (so I wouldn't inadvertently infect anyone) he decided to do a second antibody test. Which also proved to be negative.

Bottom line, I had never had COVID.

This time, though, I knew in my gut that I had it. My symptoms were classic, things I'd never felt before.

And I can tell I'm really over it now, although I still have three days of mask wearing . . . Ha! I will continue to wear my mask whenever I go to the store or anywhere inside. And not one of those flimsy things you pick up at the front door of some establishments. I'll wear mine that I know are better than average.

Watching one of these rapid test develop is neat.

They drop the test solution in one end and then a wave of red dye flows up the test window and settles, if negative, at the C. Happens really fast. Yesterday you could see I was negative but they wanted to wait for all the dye to settle.

I had the PCR test, so it's pretty much a given that it's accurate.
