Good very late evening, folks.
I had a great day tooling around Benton and surrounding areas with fellow teacher Mary Louise (Genealogy) and Jimmy, one of our students.
Jimmy was our tour guide and we had a complete tour of Benton. He is an Arkansas native and really knows a lot about Benton history. Very interesting.
We visited an old German church, Avilla Lutheran church, where Mary Louise's 3 times great uncle is buried, then visited Bland County which is where Jimmy grew up. What used to be fields is now littered with subdivisions of new housing. Where homes used to be located, there is only woods. We saw an old cedar tree with honey bees living in it.
There were several cemeteries on our route, one of which I would have loved to visit, but we didn't have the time. One day, we'll visit both the Avilla Lutheran church cemetery and the one where Jimmy's parents are to take pictures of their grave stones. I'm sure both would appreciate having the photos.
And, Bob, I wasn't lurking; I forgot to turn off the computer when I left the house for our day trip.
Good night; it's time for bed.
Good morning folks its a very cold 18° outside this morning ...might get into the high 30's later today.
