From clicking 'Download and install' in WU to a working desktop - 4 hours 49 minutes.
Par for the course, really. Been much the same with this system's previous major feature upgrades when Windows Update was asked to do them.
How long does the 2004 upgrade take using Windows Update?Bree said:
That's been typical for this system's last three major feature updates. It may be because there's a lot of installed apps on this system. The new 'hardware home' for this system is similar in many respects to its old 'host body' (it has an HDD for a start) and the new processor is hardly a 'rocket'.
As I've said previously, if you want a fast upgrade the last thing you should do is ask Windows Update to do it for you On the same hardware an in-place upgrade with an ISO would be at least twice as fast.
Still, nothing comes close to the clean install on my other 'W11 ready' machine. With a 10th gen i7 and a PCIe NVMe SSD it took 10 minutes from booting the install usb to the desktop
