No idea, the alleged '90 days after release' has long since passed.

But you don't have to wait for the Trial to expire. When you have an install of v8 that has reverted to Free, take a note of its licence key. Next time you install the v8 Trial, once it is installed you can 'upgrade' the installed key to the v8 Free key.

Ken, if past behaviour is any guide to the future, then it should be noted that v6 Free was the only Free version on offer until at least seven months after the launch of v7.

So I wonder where the 90 days came from?


Seems silly that they give it away, the trial ends and it goes free.


I guess there are enough people who try and then say I have to keep these features.


I have a lot of cheap, non technical users that I've convinced they need a backup.

I'd expect so, that's how I got my v7 licence pack a few years back. They've already had a 20% discount 'to get ready for your W11 upgrade'.

Don't need any more licences though, I took advantage of the 50% discount to upgrade my v7 ones

I can use more licenses so I'm not giving up my 7 licenses. I'll buy new 8 licenses for the same price.

Took an old tuner to an electronic shop. Love being in these old shops, stuff everywhere, test gear on the shelves. If he fixes I have another device to send. We shall see.

I've been running MR 8 pro for last few months now.
Got it running on both my computers

I ran a trail version, I can wait until Black Friday.
