Afternoon all. Just crawling back in after latest round of Doctor visits and test.
I think i can resist doing a Win 11 upgrade via an ISO since MS hates me and I'm CPU disqualified anyhow. That will change.
My understanding is the "phased" rollout is similar to the past where they go for "Most Likely to Succeed" first.

Good afternoon TC, hope the tests went well.

Yes, it's a phased rollout, just as before, some of us may have to wait until mid-2022 before we see it, according to Microsoft.

Rolling out the free upgrade to Windows 11 in a phased and measured approach
The free upgrade to Windows 11 starts on October 5 and will be phased and measured with a focus on quality. Following the tremendous learnings from Windows 10, we want to make sure we’re providing you with the best possible experience. That means new eligible devices will be offered the upgrade first. The upgrade will then roll out over time .... We expect all eligible devices to be offered the free upgrade to Windows 11 by mid-2022.

I've had my fun playing with an upgraded copy of my main laptop's OS on a new(er) PC. I've imaged back to W10 now and will wait patiently for Windows Update to offer it.

    Evening, afternoon
Hey TC. Hope things went well at the doctors.
That new laptop I was turning over to client today was offered 11. We declined.
    Afternoon Ken.

Interesting, I've seen that reported for other brand new PCs too. I was hoping that at a mere 9 months old my latest acquisition would be at the head of the upgrade queue, but no sign of it yet

Have you tried running the MS PC health check thingy ?
Look at all the details it lists.

I have, and there's one simple explanation that could account for the apparent discrepancy.

The PC Health Check determines if the hardware is capable or running Windows 11, and yours obviously is.

What it doesn't check is that the current install of Windows is capable of being upgraded to 11, whereas the message in Windows has checked that, and found your system wanting.

Typically this will be because you have a Legacy/MBR install of Windows. PC Health Check says 'yes, you too can run Windows 11' - but omits to tell you you'd have to do a clean install. Windows Settings knows better, and tells you you can't upgrade this install of W10 until you turn it into a UEFI/GPT one.
