maybe, but not if you were offered it as an Insider....

Mike and I have this little side bet going. We both have new machines, Mike has a newly built rig and I have a laptop I bought specifically to run a transplant of the OS from my 'main machine'. We want to see which of our two new machines will get offered the upgrade first through Windows Update, with no cheating like enrolling as Insiders or slapping an ISO onto them.

We're at the starting gate now with both our machines saying 'Great news - your PC meets the minimum system requirements ... we're getting it ready for you'.
I know, Bree. I was just teasing. I'm pretty sure I am running Release Preview on Windows 10, which wouldn't qualify me anyway.

Thankfully, both desktops (home and at Sr. Center) and my 17" laptop (All HP) are new enough to qualify for Windows 11, so I'm set without having to get a new PC.

I've had the "Great News" thing for some time, so just waiting. If I remember correctly, Insiders got an invitation to install Windows' next update earlier, which was probably the invitation I got for Windows 11 awhile back.

    I'm back.

    Afternoon Mike and Wynona

Traffic on the main highway north is just crazy. Can't imagine where they are all going.

You lead a very busy life Wynona. Hope your daughter heals quickly.

    Oh, my!

I checked for updates and there was a link that said: See if it's ready to install. I clicked on it and it wanted me to review Microsoft's terms. I backed out because I'm really not ready to have Windows 11 until my students want it.

If and when you decide to upgrade to Win 11, you will probably want these...

One gives you the Win 10 ribbon at the top of File Explorer, and the other gives you the Win 10 right click context menus, on Win 11.

    Disable_File_Explorer_command_bar.reg

    Disable_Show_more_options_context_menu.reg

Other than these two things... Windows 11 is pretty much... Windows 10.
The other few changes that most people do... (Start menu and Taskbar), can be done in: Settings.

Morning Ghot. So far as I can see W11 is just W10 in a jazzy new suit. Somewhat confirmed by the underlying NT version still being NT 10.0 the same as W10.
