Speaking of, today is the 1st of the month. Any month that begins on a Sunday has Friday the 13th in it.

So last night we were sitting on the porch & we saw something come up, but didn't pay much attention since we thought it was the cat.

Turns out it was a raccoon, just walks up to the front of the couch, sits there & looks at us with no apparent fear. Our cat hissed at it but it shrugged it off & fortunately it didn't get aggressive. It left after a couple minutes. Now we know what tore the front porch up the night before....

That's pretty cool...but a little spooky, also.

Yeah, we were wary, but it seemed pretty calm.

It's like a National Geographic show around here sometimes. We have seen coons, possums, a bear, wild turkey, deer, woodchucks, hawks, eagles, turkey buzzards....

I think that is great. I love nature, always something new and interesting.

We live right on the edge of the woods so you never know what you'll see when you step outside. We have the cat because mice like to come into the house sometimes, so we have our own pest controller patrolling the house at night.

A few years ago I was getting ready to go to the store in the morn & a cop car at the end of the street pulled up & said I should go back inside. Asked them why & they said a bear had been spotted in the area & they were trying to track it. Had to wait a couple hours until they said it apparently wasn't in the area anymore.
