I took it to a local dealer that's part of their family. They can't cover any warranty work as it a Hyundai/Subaru dealer but it's only 10 mins away. I took it there just for that purpose, to avoid the drive & hoping it was something minor. If it leaks out & they find it's something expensive, then I will have to take it to the Honda dealer to be covered.
But that's a thought, maybe the dye sealed the leak.
Although I did notice I have a code up on the dashboard. They suggest you replace your brake fluid every 3 years. It's been that amount of time, but hopefully they can do it at the local lace since I'm pretty sure that's not warranty work.
Got a call from the dealer a couple weeks ago & they said it should be time for or past the time for the 30K maintenance. I told them I barely have 10K on it & they were pretty shocked. But looks like I probably should get the brake fluid done soon.
Afternoon Keith
I would check on brake fluid service, especially with the low miles you have Borg. Some people never change fluid. I know many years ago I had to change fluid yearly to go on track. The concern was the fluid had absorbed water. The water in the fluid under extreme, repetitive braking could boil creating vapour locks. The vapour prevents the hydraulic action from working.
Yes, I do need to see if I can maybe skip that being there's low miles on it. They said it goes by how many years according to the info I found. I'll have to check into that.
The car pace was amazingly empty of inventory. Very few new cars on the lot, never seen it so low. Talked with one girl there I she said new ones are hard to get & used cars are in high demand. And she said both types were overpriced right now. I mentioned our car & the mileage. So I'm sitting there watching the TV & some guy walks up & said "Excuse me, are you the one that owns the Honda?" I said yes & he said "do you really only have 10K on it?" I said yes & he said "I'd just like to let you know that we can offer you a very good price on it."
I told him we'd pass. But the demand here for used cars is very high since they can't get any new ones. Dealers are scooping up used ones with low milage as fast as they can.
Yes.... semi shortage impacting new builds. Crazy world.
Yes on brake fluid and years. Basically the longer it is in there the more potential to absorb water. Personally I think every car maker is trying to figure out how to get you to do more service. $$$$
That is a great shot Keith.
Well I better get going. Busy day ahead.
