I've installed the leaked Win11 in a VM to see how the new GUI looks, but that's all. It's not worth investigating in any depth as it's quite obviously a 'work in progress' build - very much W10 underneath the GUI.

Hey, what a surprise! Microsoft actually takes notice of bug reports!

As some of you may have read earlier, at the weekend I delivered a laptop I'd built for the grandchildren (they loved it).

It was a little Lenovo Yoga 11e (1st gen), a touchscreen convertible. I'd actually bought one for myself the month before and seeing how much the enjoyed playing with it I picked up a second one for them to have as their own.

While there I discovered that using the camera would cause a BSoD. Traced this to a SunplusIT driver that WU had automatically installed. Easily fixed in Device manager by uninstalling the camera (deleting the drivers) and checking for new hardware. The generic MS camera driver got installed and worked fine. A check on Lenovo Support confirmed this driver is not applicable to this model.

But then WU automatically reinstalled the bad driver. Well, obviously I rolled back to the previous driver immediately. As part of the rollback MS asked 'why?' to which I replied 'BSoD'.

When I got home I went through the same exercise on my own identical machine. It came as a pleasant surprise that WU no longer reinstalled the SunplusIT driver. Instead it is now listed as an optional driver update. Seems someone at MS has reacted promptly to my report, and over the weekend too.
