    Thanks Shawn. I'm a bit bummed that I had to unenrol from the Scala course but that would have been a bit difficult and I want to focus on one language at a time right now. And I can study Java/Groovy or Scala on my own.

    Good going Jeff. As a total newb, I have to wonder if Java isn't a dead end, it's so riddled with vulnerabilities, it will either have to be totally rewritten, or it will be replaced by something else. A Guy

    Java is still a very popular language and a good language to learn. If you check out the second link you'll see that it's ranked #2.
    So, I'm going to continue to learn it and add in Groovy and Scala.

    Oh and Python is ranked #8.

    Yes, and it's free!
    Coursera offers a lot of different classes and I've taken one before, Programming for Everybody.
    And I signed up for a introduction to guitar class.

    Yes, they are and there are students from around the world taking the Interactive Programming in Python now.
    Programming for Everybody starts up again in Oct. Check it out.
