You want roundabouts try Milton Keynes. Just about every junction is a roundabout.

I must be old, my first memories of using a telephone was picking up the phone receiver to have an operator come on, and ask "number please".
I was always excited to say 5 4. That was the phone number where my dad worked. Parts counter at the Ford dealer.

We had to use the crank on the wall-mounted phone to reach the operator. Also had to keep spare tall tubular batteries on hand. I was somewhere between 6 and 9 when we finally got electricity on the farm but when we moved to town in my 13th summer [after 4 years of drought] the phone system still hadn't changed.

Except if you drive on the left of course. Then it's the other way around.
Sure that is the normal rule but you cannot assume it is the same in every country (as per France).

Although I often drive on the right, I am more comfortable driving on the left as I can defend myself more easily from highwaymen.

We were riding horse/carriages on left centuries before car was invented as it was easier to defend yourself with a sword (most being right handed). I presume lefthanded people ignored this and rode on right?

One of the UK overseas islands has decided they are going to swap to driving on right but due to cost of signs, they are going to phase it in, lorries next year, and cars a year later.
