My opinion as an ex Fire Direction Center section chief, and platoon sergeant:
The ones from OCS(were once NCOs, and usually from the same MOS field) or ROTC(They knew they still had a lot to learn from their NCOs) weren't that bad, but I think the ones that went to West Point... it fits perfectly.

I'll never forget a USAF Major "Hoot" Gibson, leader of the Thunderbirds early '60s. One of his team had to leave his plane between Providence and NAS Quonset Point when it quit. The Major 'acquired' the best pen I'd had back then.
